Is it the right choice?

When WordPress suits a Dubai business, and when it does not

WordPress is the platform we recommend most often for company websites, but not always. Being clear about the limits is part of giving a useful recommendation, and it saves you from paying later to move a site that should never have been built on the wrong foundation.

A good fit when

Your marketing team publishes news, projects, careers or blog posts regularly. You want to own the site outright and be free to change agency. You need Arabic and English with separate URLs. You may add a WooCommerce store later. You want a large pool of developers in the UAE who can support it.

Probably not the answer when

The site is really an application, with user accounts, bookings with complex rules or real time data. Nobody on your side will take responsibility for updates. Or the product is a marketplace where performance under heavy traffic is critical. In those cases custom web development is usually the better foundation.

How we build it

What goes into a Codeeo WordPress build

Two WordPress sites can look alike on launch day and behave completely differently a year later. The difference is in decisions nobody sees on the homepage.

A custom theme

Written for your design rather than a marketplace theme with hundreds of options you will never use. Less code means fewer conflicts and faster pages.

Blocks designed for your content

Editors choose from blocks such as service summary, project gallery or team grid, each already styled, so new pages stay on brand.

Structured content types

Projects, team members, locations or listings as proper content types with fields, not pasted into generic pages.

Right to left from the start

The theme handles both directions, with Arabic typography chosen for screens and every template checked in both languages.

Hardened and backed up

Individual user roles, two factor login for admins, limited login attempts, automatic offsite backups and no unused plugins left installed.

Caching and image handling

Page caching, modern image formats and lazy loading configured before launch, then measured on real phones.

A common decision

Page builder or custom theme?

This is the question we are asked most about WordPress in Dubai. Both are valid. Here is the trade off in plain terms.

Page builder themeCustom theme with blocks
Editing freedomTotal: any element can be moved anywhereGuided: editors build pages from approved blocks
Risk of breaking the designHigh, especially on mobileLow, because blocks are styled and responsive
Page speedOften heavier, with extra scripts and stylesLighter, only the code the site uses
Arabic layoutsNeeds checking element by elementHandled at theme level

WooCommerce

When your WordPress site needs to sell

Because WooCommerce runs inside WordPress, a company site can grow into a store without moving platform. The Gorgeous Flower, a Dubai floral boutique, runs on WooCommerce, and because it sells in one of the UAE’s most gift driven markets, the build centred on a fast checkout.

If selling online is the main purpose rather than an addition, read our ecommerce website development page, which compares WooCommerce with Shopify and custom stores.

Owning a WordPress site

A checklist for business owners, whoever builds your site

These are the things we check first whenever a Dubai company asks us to look at an existing WordPress site. Most problems trace back to one of them.

  • The domain is registered to your company, not to a freelancer or a former employee
  • The hosting account is in your name, and you know where the invoice goes
  • Every person with admin access has their own account, and ex staff have been removed
  • Backups are stored somewhere other than the same server as the website
  • Plugins that are not in use are deleted, not just deactivated
  • Premium plugin and theme licences are registered to your email address
  • Someone is named as responsible for updates, with a regular routine
  • Contact forms are tested after updates, because a silent form failure costs enquiries without anyone noticing

If your site fails several of these and is also slow, our guide to website speed and Core Web Vitals is a good next read, and a website redesign may be worth considering.

Hosting and care

Four hosting decisions that shape how your WordPress site behaves

A well built WordPress site on poor hosting still feels slow and fragile. These are the questions we settle with every client before launch, and the ones worth asking any provider.

Managed or shared hosting?

Cheap shared hosting puts your site on a server with many others, so a busy neighbour can slow you down. Managed WordPress hosting usually includes caching, backups and staging, which saves effort for a small team.

Is there a staging copy?

A private copy of the site where updates and new pages are tested first. Without one, every plugin update is tried directly on the live site your customers are using.

Is email on the same server?

Many Dubai companies have company email bundled with their website hosting. When the website moves, email breaks. Keeping email with a dedicated provider separates the two and makes future changes much safer.

Who renews what, and when?

Domain, hosting, SSL and premium plugin licences all renew on different dates. Put them on your company card and calendar, because an expired domain takes the site and the email down together.

How it runs

Six stages from brief to a site your team runs

Design is approved before development begins, copywriting is included, and the handover is built around the people who will edit the site: training, a recorded walkthrough they can rewatch, and a support window while they get comfortable.

  1. 01

    Discovery

Your goals, your customers, what the site has to achieve. You leave with a scope and a fixed price in writing.

  2. 02

    Design

Wireframes, then full designs of every key page. Nothing is built until you approve how it looks.

  3. 03

    Development

Built mobile first on the right stack, with a CMS your team can edit later.

  4. 04

    Testing

Real devices, real browsers, real form submissions. Speed, accessibility and tracking all checked.

  5. 05

    Launch

We deploy, point your domain, install SSL, submit the sitemap and confirm every conversion event fires.

  6. 06

    Support

Handover training, a recorded walkthrough and a support window while your team settles in.

Sites where the client team keeps the content moving

A WooCommerce florist, a bilingual healthcare practice and a furniture brand showing a changing range of international and UAE made pieces. Firms that publish projects regularly, like contractors, get a lot from this setup too: see construction website design.

Frequently asked questions

Is WordPress secure enough for a business website?

WordPress itself is actively maintained. When we look at a hacked WordPress site, the usual culprits are outdated plugins, abandoned themes or shared admin passwords. A lean build, individual accounts, two factor login, regular updates and offsite backups deal with the realistic risks.

Do you use Elementor or another page builder?

Not by default. We build a custom theme with editable blocks designed for your content, which keeps pages fast and stops layouts breaking when someone edits them. If your team already relies on a particular builder, we discuss the trade offs honestly before deciding.

Can you take over an existing WordPress site?

Often, yes. We first review the theme, plugins, hosting and access. Sometimes cleaning up and updating the current site is enough. If the foundations are weak, we will say so and explain what a rebuild would involve.

How does Arabic work on WordPress?

WordPress supports right to left languages well. We pair it with a translation setup that gives each Arabic page its own URL, and design the theme so both directions look intentional, from menus to forms.

Who looks after updates after launch?

After the support window your team can apply routine updates using the process we hand over, or hand the job to any WordPress developer you choose. Either way, you hold the admin, hosting and domain logins.
